{"id":117,"date":"2014-04-13T14:21:32","date_gmt":"2014-04-13T14:21:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ventanasvoyage.com\/africa\/?p=117"},"modified":"2014-04-14T23:26:57","modified_gmt":"2014-04-14T23:26:57","slug":"five-days-departure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ventanasvoyage.com\/africa\/five-days-departure\/","title":{"rendered":"Five Days until Departure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The countdown continues.\u00a0 We\u2019ve finally bought every item on our long list.\u00a0 We spent some time today spraying our clothes with a semi permanent insect repellent called Permethrin which we have used before successfully. \u00a0Hopefully it will keep away those malarial mosquitos. \u00a0The next few days we have to vacate the house we are in and move all our stuff either back into storage or to our motorhome.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-120\" alt=\"kayaks on snow crop2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ventanasvoyage.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/kayaks-on-snow-crop2-300x359.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ventanasvoyage.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/kayaks-on-snow-crop2-300x359.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.ventanasvoyage.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/kayaks-on-snow-crop2-500x599.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.ventanasvoyage.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/kayaks-on-snow-crop2.jpg 881w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>We\u2019ll be missing summer in Salida.\u00a0 That means missing mountain biking and kayaking.\u00a0 Right now is the transition of seasons- the end of winter and ski season and the beginning of spring and summer sports.\u00a0 The last few days I managed to cram in a day of flying my gyroplane, one day of mountain biking and a last day of skiing.\u00a0 It is fun to watch the quick transition here from skiing to kayaking.\u00a0 The ski hill is still open but in the warm afternoons we are already seeing kayakers on the river that runs right through town. \u00a0\u00a0Some of the locals like to combine the two so the switch of seasons is really seamless.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center;
